What it is
A suit is bought on the jacket shoulder and then tailored. Shoulder width, chest size and jacket length come from the rack; sleeve, waist, trouser length and seat are the tailor work that turns a size into a fit.
What is included
- Full measurement and cut selection
- Fabric weight and construction explained
- Pinned fitting with shoes
- Sleeve, waist, seat and hem alterations
- Second fitting before handover
How it works
Measurement and cut
We measure chest, waist, shoulder and height, and identify whether a regular, short or long cut is right.
Fabric and construction
We explain wool weight, weave and whether the canvas is full, half or fused, which decides how the jacket ages.
Fitting
We pin sleeve length, jacket waist, trouser length and seat with shoes on.
Alteration and final fitting
We complete the alterations and fit again before the suit leaves, not after.
Frequent questions
How much shirt cuff should show?
About one centimetre below the jacket sleeve. Sleeve length is the alteration most often skipped and the one most visible.
What is a canvassed jacket?
A layer between fabric and lining that gives the chest its shape. Full canvas moulds to the wearer over time; fused is glued and cheaper but never moulds.
What wool weight should I buy?
For most of the year in Brazil, a lighter wool in the 220 to 260 gram range wears far more comfortably than a heavier cloth.
